Anissa, don't worry that you can only eat a few bites at a time right now. That is perfectly normal and it's a good thing. *grin* These first six months are your accelerated losing period. It's not important to get in all your protein immediately but you should start working your way up. The most important thing right now is that you get in as much water as possible. Believe me when I say that you do not want to get dehydrated and have to be put on IVs! Best wishes to you! The first couple months are the hardest as you learn what to eat, when to eat it and deal with the head hunger!

Hi Anissa, I saw your post tonight. I will be 5 weeks post op open Rny on Thursday. My surgery was 6/20, just 2 days after yours. Let me tell you, I feel wonderful! I am in hardly any pain, I stopped the pain meds about 11 days post op. The key is walk, walk, walk, the more I walk the better it makes me feel. I know if I walk to fast for to long or sit at my desk at work to long I start to get a pain under my right boob to put it bluntly. For protein drinks go to vitalady.com she sells samples you can buy for 1.99 each, I bought some but have only tried a few didn't like either of them, you can check out reviews on protein drinks. Pre-op 5'7 293, today 265, almost 30 lbs gone forever. Best of luck to you.

Anissa. Go to Vitalady.com. She is a RNY patient who now sells nutritional stuff, but she has a lot of info. In the Q and A page is a good list of questions for your surgeon. GOOD LUCK! Normie

I read your post about needing a list of questions for your surgeon. That is hard, since I don't know which type of procedure you're having, whether it's open or lap, and what your surgeon's requirements are. The basic things to ask would be 1) length of stay in the hospital and recovery period; 2) specific dietary requirements post op (every surgeon has his/her own guidelines); 3) how many procedures your surgeon has performed and his/her success and fatality rates; 4) whether the procedure will be done open or laparscopically (sp?); 5) how small your pouch will be and how much intestine will be bypassed; 6) what other tests/procedures you will be required to undergo prior to the approval for surgery. That is a pretty good start. Best to you on your journey.
