Debbie..please don't get discouraged. I haven't even had my surgery yet..its only 5 days away, but I get so sad when I read someone's post that is discouraged as yourself. I already have plans to accept whatever pace the weight comes off at. I don't care. It took 38 years of my life to get to this weight and if it takes 2 years to reach my goal, it is worth it. I know others are losing faster, but hey look at it this way, if you lose slower your skin has a chance to adjust and it won't be as saggy! Keep up the good work and try to stay positive. It will come off!!

Hello Debbie.....{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} I wish I could hug you in person! I think your weight loss will come in time. Please be patient with yourself. You are doing all the right things, some people's bodies just react at a slower pace! Continue to do as the dietician tells you, pamper yourself and most of all know that we are here for you! We love you! God be with you. LOVE & PEACE

Don't give up. You will soon see results. Next time you see that DR, speak up alittle. Tell him what you are thinking and ask some questions. Leslie Elwood

Debbie you are doing everything you need to. I think your doctor needs some feedback from you about his comments which were inappropriate. I think that people forget that you have hired this person to work for you, and if you are not happy be a good consumer and tell him so. If that does not change, then take your business somewhere else. Doctors need feedback about their behavior just like we all do. Hang in there! Mari Seattle

Dear Debbie: Please don't be so hard on yourself. I had Lap-rny on August 20th, then on Sept. 28th I had emergency surgery for two obstructions in my small intestines; After that second surgery, I was so edemic!!! I was holding almost 30 lb of water. Like you, my body systems shut down (in this case, my kidneys) after about 2-3 weeks when I got out of hospital, then I started peeing that water weight off, currently I've had a loss of 50 lb of weight all together. Please give your body some time to heal and accept the differences. This surgery is quite a shock to your system----and I mean your whole system----including your mental health. It sounds like your surgeon must be inexperienced working with wls patients if he doesn't even know this. Maybe, I would (if possible) find another, more experienced surgeon to do your aftercare. The last you need is someone who doesn't keep in mind the complete hope you've placed in this surgery. Remember, try to keep your liquid intake up, and if necessary, talk to your doctor about the possibilty of being edemic. Also, just be calm concerning your progress, you will find, that eventually, when your body accepts what is happening, that weight starts to melt off. Remember also, if you are older, and have experienced obesity for a longer period, your body is fighting the starvation effect, and is going to work hard for a little while to hold on to that fat. Please don't place your self-esteem in your body image; It's just causing you so much distress. You're a wonderful, beautiful person---Sincerely, Lori Ann

Debbie, hang in there, it will get better! I am almost three weeks post-op. The pain will subside, trust me. When the swelling goes away, you will start losing weight!
