Hi Pat, my surgeon, Dr. Emma Patterson, says that in the end the band and the other surgies come out with about the same weight loss over time. Yes the people with the band lose slower. I have had mine in for 5 weeks and have lost in excess of 25 pounds and over 60 since before my surgery. These procedures are different for all of us. Only you can make the right decision for you. I love my band and I am learning how to work with it to acheive the best possible results!
