Suzi I just wanted to wish you a safe and uneventful surgery with a fast recovery! I had the DS/bpd on 2-20-03 and feel GREAT!! Best thing I ever did for myself and my 8 yr old! 2003 will be a GREAT year for us with our new journey and life ahead of us!! We will never forget the path we are about to take or what brought us to this fork in the road. SUZI~~ SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAD TO POSTPONE YOUR SURGERY DATE~~Everything happens for a reason...So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable

Suzi, Congratulations to you as you start the journey to a healthy life! Warm wishes and prayers for your uneventful surgery, quick, pain-free recovery, and lots of weight loss are being sent your way. {{{HUGS}}} Tell your mom to stop calling you if she can't stop the negativity. This surgery has been refined since 1977 and she could read some of the success stories on this site to reassure herself, but she needs to stop making you a wreck. You know what you are doing. Good Luck and enjoy being a BIG LOSER!

Suzi, my grandmother had the "stapling" procedure several yrs ago anmd so did a woman I go to church with and they both gained their weight back. BUT I have met many people that has had RNY surgeries (Lap and open) and they have done really well. So many people have problems with at home support but you got to look at yourself and decide whats best for YOU. I also think your success depends on your commitment to the lifestyle changes. I'm ready for that and can' wait for my surgery in April. Good luck with your decision and keep us posted. Jamie
