Hi Pat, This is Deborah G. Hope that you are feeling well. As for myself I am feeling great. I havent weighed lately, so I am not sure on my weight loss. I know one thing though, I fell better now then I have in many years. Everyone is commenting on how great I look. I havent exercised this past week and need to get back in the routine. Did you have a nice Christmas? I hope that you did. I did. My husband and I received a brand new computer from our youngest son. Then I received gift certificates to buy some new clothes. I havent went and bought any as of yet. I hate to keep on buying new things and then 2 weeks later they are too big!! I went to see Dr. Rod before Christmas and he said that I was doing great. I dont have to go back until March now. Hope that you are getting along well. Well I need to go for now. Hope to hear from you soon. Deborah G.

Patricia, congratulations on making it to the losing side. I am so glad that your surgery was complication free and I am praying that your recovery will be speedy and smooth. Good luck to you for the rest of the ride.

8.21.03 PAT IS HOME! Just wanted to give you an update...Pat got to go home around noon today! She couldn't wait to be back home with her family. I got to see her before she left the hospital and she was looking very good. She was moving slow, but was more herself today and was smiling more! She was very appreciative of everyone's thoughts and prayers for her. She showed me her scars today and they weren't bad at all. She did have hand assist lap. She had two little stitches on each side and about a 3-4" incision up and down on her tummy. I bet it will heal up very nicely. She's kinda scared about what to eat and water and protein and all now that she has the surgery behind her. I reminded her to take it one day at a time. I'm just very thankful everything went well for her. She was in GREAT hands - Dr. Rod is wonderful! That's all for now - Pat should be back online in a day or two. - Stephanie

8.20.03 Just wanted to give you an update on Pat - SHE DID GREAT THROUGH THE SURGERY! I went up to see Joe in the waiting room yesterday during my lunch. Dr. Rod had just come out to see him before I got there and said Patricia did beautifully. He even thanked Joe for letting him do the operation on her. She didn't end up having hand assist, so she will have very small scars! I'm sure Pat will be glad of that! My husband and I went back up to the hospital last night to see Pat. She was awake but VERY groggie. When I walked in the door she gave me a big old smile - kinda a druggie happy smile! It was the first time I had seen her since our workshop. She looked great though to have just had major surgery that morning. She had a tube thingie in her nose that was kinda gross, and she had IVs and then these things on her legs I think to keep her circulation going and she said she was wearing a support thingie around her stomach - she said, here feel it. It was like a girdle thing. She said that she felt like she had been punched in the stomach and that's all. She thought it would have been worse. She seemed pleased. She had already gotten up to go to the bathroom before we got there. Joe said she would be walking the halls tomorrow. She would have the most activity today. It was a good visit and I felt better after seeing her and how well she was doing. Thinking, this will be me soon. There was a woman across the hall, Deborah G, who had the surgery on Monday by Dr. Rod. She looked amazingly great! She was just a talking like normal. I peeped in her room to introduce myself and she and her friend just talked and talked to me about the surgery. I was VERY IMPRESSED how great she looked. I am anxious to see Pat today because she will probably be more herself since this lady was on her second day. Ok, well that's all - just wanted to update you! Stephanie

8.18.03 Just spoke with Pat around 10pm - night before her surgery. She seems to be doing pretty good. She's ready for this to be behind her and hopes she can get a little sleep tonight. She reports to admitting tomorrow bright and early at 5am! Preps for surgery at 7:15a and then in to operating room between 9-9:30a. I will going up during my lunch break tomorrow to see Joe, her wonderful supportive husband. If anyone has any words of encouragement, support or thoughts, please post here and I will print off to take up to the hospital. I will be seeing her probably everyday. She would love to hear from you! Thanks for your prayers too! - her angel - Stephanie.
