What a mess but I'm alright

Mar 05, 2015

Nausea finally settled in the afternoon on Tuesday and I was able to tolerate my clear fluids. Had an amazing sleep Tuesday night and woke up Wednesday feeling great. No pain, No nausea was given full fluids and able to tolerate that so I was discharged from the hospital around 1pm Wednesday but due to massive freezing rain storms Tuesday night there are power outages all around the area. Surprise Surprise one of the places affected by the power outages is my hotel but not to worry madame says the concierge the power will be back on my early this evening. 6pm still no power back down to see the concierge explaining I was just discharged from the hospital I can not continue to tolerate these conditions room has no heat, no hot water, no power at all, my car is warmer than my hotel room. Concierge reassures my best friend and I they are currently outside working on the affected hydro pole power is to be restored by 10pm midnight at the latest. My best friend goes to the nearest Dollar store and purchased supplies to make heaters she has found instructions for on You Tube and then tucks me in under 6 blankets. I am finally able to fall asleep around 11pm still no power hoping to wake up to warmer temperatures. I wake up at 5AM to go to the bathroom surprise surprise still no power, my best friend has been up most of the night keeping vigil over the make shift heaters to keep the room above freezing temperatures but by 8AM she has had enough. I have been in a room with no heat what so ever for over 18 hours she finally gets the hotel management to agree this is unacceptable and we have been moved to the near by Best Western. I'm exhausted from being cold for so long but otherwise okay. I'm going to enjoy the warmth, have a nap, then some lunch and then a nice warm shower to soak the chill from my body. What a mess the last 24 hours have been but I'm okay, resting and recovering in comfort now.
