Will state disability cover WLS recovery?

I AM CONCERNED THAT MY SHORT TERM DISABILITY THROUGH MY EMPLOYER MAY NOT PAY FOR MY RECOVERY AFTER SURGERY. HAS ANYONE BEEN TURNED DOWN? MY STD IS THROUGH PRUDENTIAL? PLEAS HELP?
