In AGB and VBG, does the larger part of the stomach ever feel hungry?

If I understand correctly, the Adjustable Gastric Band or the Vertical Banded Gastroplasty are types of surgery that are restricive only (not malabsorption), and the pouch is still attached to the remainder of the stomach. My question is, why doesn't the remainder of the stomach ever feel hungry? If it does feel hungry, then how does one deal with that hunger?
