Left side cramping pain.

I woke up with left side cramping pain. Just under my ribs. Like the cramp you get from running a long time. Could it be gas? I just hate to jump up and run to the Dr. everytime I have a pain. Anyone have any suggestions? Lesleigh in Ga.
