Leg bone connected to the hip bone?

I have been having a sharp pain in my upper thigh area where it connects to the hip bone. Its only when I am walking, and that leg is totally back, and it feels like it is coming out of socket. It will stop me dead in my tracks it is so painful. Now if I continue walking without letting that leg go so far back, it won't hurt again. It has happened 3 times in a week. Anyone else experience this. I'm thinking maybe with the weight loss that I have become more mobile and my legs aren't used to walking with quite large strides. The pain is right below the hip bone that sticks out, on the crease where the thigh meets, but not so far in as the groin. What do you guys think?
