I have a pain in the middle of my stomach on the left side. What is it ?

I had the RNY on 4-20-09. Yesterday, I bent over to shave my leg, and something popped and pulled in my stomach on the left side near the large incision. I called the doctor today and he wasn't too concerned. He just gave me more pain medicine. What was the popping and pulling and why is it still so painful now? Any advice???
