Have had three episodes where I wake up in the middle of the night in pain.

It starts out as a lump just under my breast bone then it tightens up and gets severe I end up getting sick to try to relive the pain and it works for a little while then it gets worse. It usually ends up lasting for 1-2 hours then it subsides. I have normal bowl movements and not much gas. I have asked my Dr. about it and he said it is esophageal spasms and to take two zantac before bed. I was on prilosic and went off after surgery because I figured I did not have heartburn and acid reflux any more. Has anyone else been told they have this?? I have not been able to find out much about it to figure out exactly what it is doing. All I know is it really hurts!!! BTW I am 6.5 weeks post-op and had a lap surgery.
