My surgeon says I have too loose 50 lbs. has anyone else heard of this?

My surgeon wants me to loose at least 50 lbs. He says that I wouldn't fit in the mri machine ,that the weight limit is 300 lbs. I weigh about 390.Has anyone else heard of this.I would appreciate any input.
