From my experience, I'd go Epidural

I cannot answer what the pump is like, since I had the epidural. But in my case, it was a God-send. It was put in without so much as feeling a prick. And it controlled the "pain" extremely well (since I rarely rated my pain to them much over a 3, on a scale of 0-10 ... ten being worst ... I'd have to say it must have worked well.) They brought my epi meds down during days three and four as my 02 level in my blood was keeping me on oxygen, and bringing down the meds helped clear that up. But I really didn't notice too much extra pain as they brought the epi meds down. I did end up taking some nausea meds orally on day three and four, and the NG tube in my nose was causing my dry throat to gag.
