Any advice on how to work with surgeon's staff?

I have been pursueing this surgery for 7 moinths. they have misplaced my file twice, i have had to pursue my insurance company to get approval, and now i am still waiting for permission to make an appointment with dr. neuhoff. they also have to resubmit for approval because they forgot to request a psych eval. the ist time. this company does not seem to care what happens to the individual whose life is on hold and is getting sicker while waiting.
