Why don't our stomachs growl?

I know this may sound silly, but Iam almost a year post-op and I was sharing my story with a new found freind the other day and when I told her that my stomach does not growl any more and that I dont get hungry like before, she asked why? Does anyone know the medical reason to why our stomachs don't growl???? And as I type this Iam made to wonder if in fact your stomach growls, Iam just assuming that since mine no longer does that no ones does? Ok now I have confused myself, lol.
