Want to compare programs/nutrition with other post op weight lifters/body builders

*i've posted this twice in last two days but it never shows up!! sorry if this is a repeat: hiya. i am 19mos post op, below goal weight and i've started weight lifting for a physical agility test (have to be able to dead lift 140#) i would like to discuss the following subjects with any other post ops doing serious weight lifting and/or body building: *how much protein are you taking in? *how much protein are you getting from food and how much from supplements? *what other supplements are you taking (glutamine, efa's)? *what is your training program like? *are there any online resources for wls patients who lift or do other athletic training? *what do you use for "recovery" immediately after working out? ("normal" people use high carb/high simple sugars) i would like to talk with other post op's in similar situations...not just the normal exerciser's (no offense but my needs are different) 8-) from what i've been reading, we should be taking in 1g protein for every pound of body weight - that's 124g protein daily for me! i've already increased my meal frequency but i'm not reaching 124g even with protein supplements. Also, i cannot do the "typical" recovery post workout -- i tried adding only 1 tsp of sugar to my protein shake (as recommended by a body builder with wls experience - not personally of course!) and it made me sick!but i'm not sure that just eating food with complex carbs is going to speed the carbs to the muscles - which is needed so my muscles don't catabolize! feel free to email me directly at: [email protected] thanks in advance, kate
