Childhood Obesity
Obesity in children and adolescents is a serious issue with many health and social
consequences that often continue into adulthood. Implementing prevention programs and
getting a better understanding of treatment for youngsters is important to controlling
the obesity epidemic.
Children are teased not only by their friends but by adults around them, by family
members and by teachers at school. Children who are teased about their weight suffer
from anxiety and stress and in extreme cases can be driven to suicide.
What about Childhood and Adolescent Obesity?
Childhood and adolescent obesity is a serious health and societal problem that is rising
at exceedingly extreme rates; one might call it an epidemic. Our children and adolescents
are facing more serious health problems, peer pressure, societal difficulty, and psychological
trauma due to obesity than in the past. The extreme seriousness of this is especially imperative
to be aware of because childhood and adolescent obesity in many cases then turns in to
adulthood obesity. We are talking about a lifetime of health and emotional problems.
