I'm just starting my evaluation stage, I've had three visits with my WLS Team and I feel confedent that I'm working with compotent and caring pro's.

Things are moving along now at a slow but steady pace. I've gone to 6 or more WLS group meetings, I've had my initial consult with my WLS Dr. Coe, who I know and trust from a previous surgery in 1991.

I've gone for an ultrasound of my Gall Blatter and testing for Sleep Apnea as a result I'm going to be admitted to Baystate Medical Hospital May 14th for a 24 Hr. sleep study.

My spirits are good, but I'm very tired all the time. I'm taking my daily vitimins, keeping a food journal, and walking my dog twice a day, before and after work, 30 min each walk at a fast pace.

I've been working out with a yoga tape twice a week and I'm trying to add a third day to my work out but with night classes, that really cuts into my study time.

I can use all of the encouragement I can get YALL!

For my last three visits I've been weighing in and meeting with Dr. Coe's Nutritionalists before I see him. The staff have been very helpful and have provided me with diet guidelines and valuable stradgies that will help me to change my eating habits before surgery making post op restrictions easier to follow.

I v'e been keeping a food journal and writing down everything I eat in it daily. We reviewed what Id been eating over the past months.
I lost 7 Lbs between my 1st and 2nd visits, but gained back 5Lbs between my 2nd and 3rd. She gave me some tough love, she poured over each and every page and suggested I add 2 servings per day of vegtables to my daily diet and wrote out my goals for the next month in my journal and told me she wanted to see a loss by my next visit. My Insurace company will be looking for a weight loss, they are less likely to approve someone who shows no improvement.

Improvement is slow and small but steady, 2 lbs here 5 lbs there and Wo0-Ha 10 Lbs!
I completed my Psych Eval last month and I found out that I'm cleared for surgery, Yeah!, Now What? Well I asked My Dr. and his nutritionist, and it seems to be more waiting and dieting.
I wish somebody would tell me what comes next and how much longer I have to go! Can you tell I'm getting a little anxcious.

I Got My Date

I can hardly believe it!
I Got My Date

It's surreal!
I Got My Date

What a RUSH!
I Got My Date

I Guess I'll Really have something to Celebrate, It's January 4th
2006!

10/25/05 I visited with my dietitian yesterday and I'm down another few pounds, every little bit counts. I managed to keep my food journal, exercise journal, and scrap book up to date which was one of my goals I set for myself, and I'm proud of that too.

I've been researching nutritional variations to my standard meals and cooking and freezing , soups and Chilli's in advance of my surgery. I may not be able to eat them for a while after surgery but my teens will eat them.

Portions, portions, portions
I've been eating from a small salad plate with a little fork knife and spoon set I picked up from Marshall's, I've been measuring out my portions with a set of measuring cups, I haven't found a food scale yet, I would appreciate some input on a good one to buy.
I'm also looking for a good vegi/rice steamer.

Two more months to go, I have been reading two very interesting books on mindfullness and mindfull eating, I'll give you a review and recommend the best one when I'm done with them this weekend.
I've been focusing on my yoga and breathing this week, My back went out again and walking any distance with my 150lb Rottie any distance is out for now, stairs and bowflex are taking a back seat to this week In the meantime.
I found some realy good books that I'm really excited about and I want to share them with you!
11/8/05
I recieved a book titled Nutritional Healing as a 40th birthday gift, I was so happy with it that I went online and sent one to friends and family for Christmas and I got the next book in the series, Herbal Healing, as soon as it came out.

After I entered the Surgical WL Program and got my WLS date I really started looking for books on nutrition that helped to demistify Proteins, Minerals, Vitimins & Suplements and Daily Allowences along with the nutritional value of foods.

I began to get discouraged, none of the information I found went into the depth that I needed, untill one day I was searching Amazon online and Dietary Wellness was suggested as a result of my previous purchases

I got them both from Amazon.com used, and I'm so glad I did!
I highly reccomend buying all three books in this series.

I've always said ...
" I can loose weight if I can get my mind right"

The book titled, Mindfull Eating, has helped me do just that!

Get my mind right!

Right Mindfullness, Right Eating and Right Living are Essential principles for Post - Op Success!
