THIS IS BRENDA'S JOURNAL YALL!
INTRODUCTION
I am married to a wonderful man and have (4) wonderful kids, also I have (1) male cat named Morris, (1) female ferret named Buttercup, plus (2) female baby shith-zu puppies by the name of China and Jasmine they are so precious. My weight is presently at 312 LB! I am a diabetic type (2), I have high blood pressure, gerd, degeneritive bone desease in my neck and low back, tendon problem's in my left foot. Alabama Vocational Rehabilitation services are trying to help me find a job that will allow me to sit down instead of the constant standing, but so far no luck! I have Medicaid insurance and they say they will pay for WLS. I have been taking Xenical 120 MG (3) per day for weight loss this is very (nasty) and I am still not losing much weight! I had blood work done and found out that my triglycerides are high. I am taking Lexipro 20 MG for depression. Any help that anyone could offer would greatly be appreciated. I am still waiting for my approval from Medicaid, but today is Labor Day! I hope to hear something later on this week. I went to see Mary Dill yesturday, she had just had her surgery and was in a little pain but look well. she and her husband are really nice people and they have the sweetest most loveable dog named Kato. For now I will close, I have got to get my daughter up and ready for school in the morning.

Today Michelle from Cahaba Valley Surgical Group called me and told me that my insurance had approved me for the laproscopic gastric bypass surgery and that my surgery date will be September 29, 2006. Dr. Vince Gardner will be my surgeon! I am so excited yall! Brenda Smith :o)

I am on cloud nine today, I feel so happy! It just blows my mind how caring and loving this OH family is. You all mean so much to me. When I'm down your there, and when I'm happy your there to cheer me on. I will alway's be there for you all! Mary you are such a specail friend, I am glad to have found such a wonderful friend as you. Thank yuou for being there! I love you all for that!!!

Today I went To Shelby Bapstist Medical center in Alabaster, AL, and had my Pre- op blood work and EKG done. I also found out that my weight is now 335 LB what a bummer! I am already for my surgery September 29, 2006. I am very excited, nervous, and scared!

Today I got released from Shelby Bapstist Medical Hospital. I did not have any complications or pain with my surgery. I am not hungry at all.

Today I went for my (1) week Post Op Doctor's visit and was down from 335 LB to 323.5 LB that is a 11.5 LB gone for good! I am very pleased with my surgery, I have hardly had any pain and no sickness so far. Also, today I ate my first solid food at Captain D's. I had a child's serving plate of food, I ate half of the baked fish and a couple bite's of green beans. So far so good!!!

I am now down to 300 LB, I am so happy! I don't get sick at all and this is a good thing. I am very glad that I had the WLS. I hope to find a support group to join as soon as I get moved.

My weight this morning is 301 LB, I seem to be losing and gaining the same 3 lb's. I guess this is a platue but this is normal, so I am not worried.

Today my weight is 284 LB! I am sticking to my protein's first and my veggie's second, I don't eat fruit! I am drinking plenty of water though. This has been fairly easy to do. My hunger seem's to be under control!

As of today it has been 2 months and 1 day since my (WLS). My weight is now at 283 LB. I have lost 52 LB so far. I am having no sickness and can eat pretty much what ever I want to. This (WLS) is just awsome yall!

Today I went back for my 3 month check up! I weighed 262 LB I have lost 73 LB. I also got mt B-12 shot. I am feeling great yall.

Hello, just wanted to update, hadn't been here in a while! Today my weight is 257 LB that is a 78 LB total weight loss for me since September 29, 2006. I'm losing inches all over my body! My shirt size is now a 22/24, it was 30/32. I am very pleased about that but one thing that really bothers me is my husband needs to have the surgery but his Heart doctor said he was not a good canidate for Gastric Bypass Surgery. I asked his Heart doctor if the Lap band would be OK ! He said that he did not have a problem with the lap band surgery. So, I am checking into the LAP BAND SURGERY now.

Today my weight was 256 LB ! This is the lowest since my WLS! I really do feel great, in fact I kind of feel pretty!

Today my weight is 251 LB, but yesturday my weight was 250 LB. My energy level is soaring through the roof and I now can walk forever without having pain in my lower back or running out of breath. Before this surgery I could not hardly walk and when I would go to Wal-mart's to shop I would have to get on one of thier riding carts. This surgery has truely been a miracle for me! Thank you Jesus!

Well, I got on my bathroom scales this morning and I now weigh 247 LB this means I have lost a total of 88 LBs. This surgery is amazing yall! Thank you Jesus!

Wow! have I been a bad girl not keeping yall updated! Since I have lost this weight I have became much more active and finally I am living life again. My weight 2 weeks ago was 192 LB and a size 16 pant's is starting to get big on me...I'm grinning yall! I would have this surgery again a million times over. I would like to personally thank my doctor at Cahaba Valley Surgical Group in Alabama, Dr. Vince Gardener I now have a new lease on life and my type 2 diabetese is gone and so is my high bood pressure and you know what, I kind of even feel a little pretty now! Today is my one year anniversary of having WLS! My current weight is 182LB. I have lost 168 LB so far! I am so very happy I had this surgery. I walk about 2 miles everyday and I feel great. Take care, Luv Brenda

Today my scales said 180 LB. My weight is coming off much slower, but it is coming off! There are days that I eat alot and days that I don't . This surgery has truley been a blessing for me.

Today my weight is the lowest it has been in years (drum roll please).... 173 LB and I am into a size 12 pants and a Large Size top. I have almost lost 180 LB and I have alot more energy now. My type 2 diabetese and blood pressure is gone. You know, I kind of even feel prettier!

Surgeon: Vince Gardner
I met Dr. Vince Gardner and his staff for the first time on March 22, 2006 I like him, and his staff very much. Sherryl Coleman, his nurse was as sweet as she could be. They showed me and my husband a 15 minute VCR tape. Then I was taken to an exam room where they took 2 pictures of me front and side view shots, weighed me, took my blood pressure, and temp. Dr. Vince Gardner answered all of mine and my husband's question's about the surgery. He said laproscopic gastric bypass would be a good way for me to go. I am just waiting now to finish up my 6 months of supervised weight loss dieting under my physicians care. I am so excited yall!
