Hello. I am still at my moms house. Surgery was ok, but I had some problems with a fever afterwards. I also had hives, a systemic reaction to something that made my entire body swell. I weighed 23 pounds more when I came home from the surgery than I did going in. I have lost some of the water now, but the swelling make the incesions, etc have some problems. The fluid started going to my lungs as well. It is frustrating to not only have NOT LOST but to have gained. Anyways, I will be at my moms for a while.

Hello Kristine, I just wanted to say congratulations on your decision to have weight loss surgery. I see that your date is just around the corner and we can’t wait to welcome you to the other side. As you start to lose the pounds you are going to feel so much better and your energy level will just grow. In just a few short months you’ll be able to do things you never thought possible. The little things will get so much easier, like tying your shoes. I know, I had RNY Gastric Bypass in August of 2004, and I’ve lost 130 lbs. Now the surgery and the change in lifestyle are not walks in the park. That’s why I go to support group meetings and belong to online WLS discussion groups like http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/WLBSS/ . And I check out websites like Obesity Help and http://wlbss.com for support and information. WLBSS stands for Weight Loss Bariatric Surgery Support, and you should take advantage of all the support you can get. Get all your questions answered by experienced losers who are now winners. From the Girth, a Rising Phoenix, a Bariatric Butterfly, that soon will be you. Congrats and good luck. We’re all right behind you and with you as you start to change your life. Take Care, Bill Johnson-Miles

Hello Kristine - Sorry to hear about the delays on your surgery but thrilled to see it's been rescheduled so SOON!!! I suspect you are experiencing a range of emotions right now. The week before my surgery I was on a natural high, almost a euphoric state of mind. I couldn't believe I was getting that "second" chance to LIVE life again. I wish you all the success and happiness that comes with being healthier and thinner. Just remember your overall attitude plays a large role in your recovery, keep it POSITIVE and ask lots and lots of questions. This is a new learning experience for all that choose WLS and we draw so much from each other. There can be a few challenges along the way, but no worse then sitting on the sidelines - confined by our overweight shells. You're about to break free, enjoy and embrace all the wonderful "moments" that come with this journey. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers for a successful and uneventful surgery. <i> "The key to happiness is dreams, the key to success is making those dreams come true"</i> .....This surgery has been nothing short of a miracle for me and I will be forever grateful.

March 8th is my new date!

Kittyn Moon 18 years, 2 months ago

My surgery was delayed. I came down with influenza type A (after a flu shot) and I still had a low grade fever this morning. I will let everyone know as soon as I have a new date. I am a little morose this morning now.
