Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I was a mess. I lost and gained HUNDREDS OF POUNDS over the years. I hated myself. I shied away from mirrors, and eventually began staying in the house so people wouldn't stare. I was ashamed of myself, and didn't want people to see me like that. It was a nightmare, living nightmare from which I never could wake up.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I was in pain all of the time. if my neck and shoulders weren't hurting from the back flab pulling me down, my bra was cutting deep red lines into my sides and under my breasts. I was miserable all of the time.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I love life! I am capable of cleaning the house well now, and run up and down the stairs like nothing. I can bend over without turning blue, and can wear cute clothing in styles that are appropriate to a 36 yr old. I feel like I should now. Normal!
