Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I spent thousands upon thousand of dollars jumping from one weight loss method to another until I read up on weight loss surgery. Initially I was reading up on lap-bands but then stumbled onto this site and started reading on VSG's. That was it. My mind made up, I did everything in my power to come up with the money to get this surgery and change my life forever. I was sleeved Aug 30, 2010 and it was the best decision I ever made. I'll NEVER be fat again. :)

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

Although I never did have the self confidence I have now, people treat you differently when you're overweight. I detested that. I also hated clothes shopping. Now, it completely surprises me and I'm pleased everytime I try something on.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

Wear pretty clothes. I always wore baggy pants, shirts etc on purpose so that clothes wouldn't cling to me and show off my fatness. Now I'm wearing the proper sizes and loving the way my body looks, even though I do have a bit of excess skin. I wouldn't change a thing.
