Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I just love food. Anytime we have a get together or celebration, food is a big deal. My outlook now has changed. I eat to live, I don't live to eat anymore.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

I am 42. I had my son at 21 and ever since have been over 200lbs. After my weight gain, I haven't felt attractive. My hubby told me all the time but I never heard him. All I saw was fat. I could never stick with a diet. I am doing it now though!

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I just had bypass on 3/12/13. My start weight was 235 and on my one week post op appt on 3/18, I was 226.5. I want to be free from my prison. Move forward and enjoy life to the fullest. Kayaking or zip lining anyone?
