Obesity & Me

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.

I used to be very depressed all the time. I would turn to food for comfort and relief of stress. I definitely couldn't wait to eat, because that was what i thought made me happy. Until weighing myself and seeing how negatively being overweight impacted my life. I tried many times to exercise and modify my diet and it just never stuck.

What was (is) the worst thing about being overweight?

The worst part about being overweight was that i felt like a prisoner in my own body. To afriad to take my shirt off because i had man boobs and love handles.

If you have had weight loss surgery already, what things do you most enjoy doing now that you weren't able to do before?

I currently work in a hotel, and they are all amazed at how i constantly run up and down our 5 flights of stairs several times a day. I can move so much easier and am way less tired all the time. The biggest challenge that i was afraid I'd never accomplish was having a regular relationship with food. Now when I'm hungry, i will eat whatever i want, just in moderation and i catch myself eating way less than i used to. I still eat the not so good for you foods, but now i don't have to worry about gaining because i remain active as much as i can.
