I MET WITH DR MEYERS AND WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH MY CHOICE. DR MEYERS, RUTH, TAMMY, GIOVANNI,AND LYNN WERE VERY INFORMATIVE AND FRIENDLY. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS RELAXING AND I FEEL LIKE HE IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR ME. THEY FOCUS A LOT ON WHAT THE AFTERCARE IS GOING TO BE AND WENT OVER ANY POSSIBLE RISK ASSOCIATED WITH THE SURGERY.

Dr. Meyers and his staff are fantastic. I went to three others (including the biggest ones) before I settled on Dr. Meyers. His approach is small groups and more personal than others. He retired from the Navy as head of Bethesda Naval Hospital Surgery and has had over 20 yrs experience in Laproscopic Surgery. After assisting Dr. Alexander, he started adding WLS to his normal surgical practice. Dr. Meyers uses Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton which is very close to where I live. He has a therapist Dr. Kludge that is working with patients in a group setting in additon to the monthly support group meeting. I am very happy with my choice of Dr. Meyer as the surgeon.
[I'm now 5 months post op. I'm 94 lbs down from when I made the decision to see Dr. Meyers. I would highly recommend him and his staff. Everyone is fantastic! I would do this operation again in minute! I have some much more energy, have dropped most medications, and generally just feel better.]

Great bedside manner! I only have wonderful things to say about Dr.Meyers, Ruth, & Giovanni. My impression just gets better over time. They really do care about their patients. Aftercare is very supportive. Once a month the Doc and Ruth have a support group meeting that is always good and every other week they offer group therapy with Dr.Kluge for a nominal fee. These support groups really help. The Doc and team are very honest and clear about everything. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. I knew I was in good hands and still am. Dr. Meyers also has a wonderful team in the operating room that took care of me. My husband has also appreciated the way he has been treated by the doctor and Ruth. If I ever needed surgery for anything else I would want Dr. Meyers to do it. My husband and I have a life together again and it is wonderful.

I went to visit Dr. Meyers' office on July 25, 2003. My first impression of him was, "Oh my he looks like The Mad Scientist!" That all soon changed because Dr. Meyers really impressed me with his knowledge of the surgery and his years of experience. His staff is wonderful! They are a really great bunch of guys that make you feel so special. These guys really care about your health! Ruth, Giovanni, Lynn, the stress test team---they are all WONDERFUL!!! There is so much stucture in this office and the guys are all about business---makes light of the waiting game because you always know the status of your journey. I have attended a lot of seminars and consultations in my day, but I would recommend this Dr. and staff to anyone who is striving to have the WLS. They address everything from the begining to the end and emphasize risk, complications, aftercare and what you can do to make your surgery more successful. I am completely satisfied!

What a wonderful, gifted and intelligent man! Everyone in his office has treated me wonderfully. His wife is also a wonderful, gifted and intelligent person. I love how they make me feel like a person and treat me with dignity. The office staff is excellent and very prompt in getting things taken care of and returning phone calls. Thanks to all of you for giving me a new chance at life!

I met Dr. Meyers when I went in for my consultation, and was quite impressed. The team at his office is wonderful, and they all work together to make things run as smoothly as possible - not just for them, but for the patients as well. Ruth, his nurse, is knowledgable, patient, and will answer any question honestly. They all work very well together, and do a great job of putting their patients (and potential patients) at ease. Dr. Meyers himself is poised, professional, and easy to talk to. And handsome! ;-) He really put me at ease.

I especially like that they not only emphasize aftercare, but they emphasize before care. They want you to start making the changes immediately to get yourself in better shape for the surgery, and to be better prepared to make the changes afterward. Very, very cool.

Dr. Meyers and his staff are some of the most wonderful people I have met. The office is usually very hectic, but for due reasons.

When I first met Dr. Meyers in Feb of 2003, I thought he was very articulate about his profession. He knows what he is talking about and you know that from the very beginning. The consultation was very informative and I left with a knowing of what would happen, and some hope of making it through the journey.

Giovanni (or "G") is Dr. Meyers' front deak person and is very helpful in getting answers. He takes time to be funny and is very caring about the patients that come through.

Dr. Meyer's wife and nurse, Ruth, is one busy person! She is always running. She and Dr. Meyers really seem to like what they're doing and they care. Ruth came off to me at first as not having much personality, but once you know her, it's there.

Overall, I would rate Dr. Meyers and his office a 9 out of 10.

From my first phone to set up the consultation to the latest support group meeting I attended, my experience with Dr. Meyers and his staff has been great. Just prior to the consultation with Dr. Meyers, Ruth his nurse, lead a very informative "orientation" meeting with a small group of patients. We were able to ask questions and partecipate. I did not feel rushed through the process. Dr. Meyers was very pleasant to talk to and seemed very caring. He answered my questions and addressed all of my concerns. Last Monday, I attended a mandatory support group meeting. In reality I missed the previous meeting and was really eager to attend this time. Listening to the guest speaker was informative and interesting, but meeting and talking to the people who had this surgery was exactly what I needed to validate my decision to have this surgery.I was truly impressed by the connection that I saw between Dr. Meyers and his patients: they all had high praises for him. I am very confident that God has lead me to a great surgeon!

I met with Dr. Meyers last Friday. He has great skills when it comes to Laparoscopic Surgery. WLS is in addition to other surgeries that he performs. Ruth, his nurse will give you all of his background at "orientation" which was held right in his waiting room. Very informal but informative. Ruth goes through the details with you and you'll really like her. She just really seems to care about the patients. The entire staff was great! I don't have anything negative to say at this point. I would rate them very high. They address the risks of the surgery and yes they have an aftercare program. As for the last questions this site asks, Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or both. Well, here is what I have to say about that. I have seen some postings that say Yeah, he is a hard @#$ but he is the best. You know what guys and gals---there is no reason why you should not expect excellent surgical skills and good bedside manners. I won't settle for less and I don't think Dr. Meyers nor his staff will let me down. This entire statement is my opinion only. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH and locate a surgeon that you like.

I met Dr. Harry Meyers for the first time last Friday (5/2/03) and found him to be very easy to talk to. I was very comfortable with him. I had chatted with Ruth, his nurse (and also his wife) several times and found her to be helpful beyond what I'd ever experienced with a doctor's office. She was very aware of my self-pay status and, in fact, was extremely helpful in negotiating with the hospital, etc., to bring the price down to an acceptable level for me. My meeting with Ruth and Dr. Meyers was very informative and they answered all of my questions regarding complications, etc. They even asked a patient who was there for her one-week post-op check to come into the exam room to meet me and let me ask her some questions! She looked great and is having NO problems!!!! I will be attending a support group for Dr. Meyers' patients on May 19th (mandatory, but I look forward to it so I would go anyway) and then, hopefully, will have a date set up for open RNY within the next few weeks. I'm ready and looking forward to Dr. Meyers and Ruth handling my surgery.
