Dr. Hares is a member of the bariatric surgical team at St. John Weight Loss Center. He specializes in several types of bariatric surgery, including biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) duodenal switch, open Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional bariatric surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Hares earned his medical degree from Damascus (Syria) University Medical School, then completed residencies in general surgery at Christ Hospital, Oaklawn, Illinois (St. Luke’s Presbyterian University Program) and the North Oakland Medical Centers, Pontiac, Michigan (U-M Surgery Program). He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and International College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity.
