Dr. Rodríguez earned her medical degree at the  School of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), specializing in Bariatric Laparoscopic Surgery. During her medical internship, she went to the University of Texas as a visiting medical student at the UT Medical Center in Saint Luke’s Episcopal, Methodist, and Memorial Hermann Hospital. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Cardiovascular Investigation Center of The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases of the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. Following her studies in Texas, Dr. Rodríguez completed her residency at the Autonomous University of Baja California General Hospital of Tijuana and in the High Specialty Ambulatory Surgery (UNEME). She is certified as a surgeon by the Mexican Council of General Surgery and as a Bariatric Surgeon by the Mexican College of Bariatric Surgery and Metabolic Medicine. Dr. Rodríguez is a founding associate of the Mexican College of General Surgeons. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
