Todd Eibes Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Eibes was born in Burlington, Iowa, and has spent most of his life in the state. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1994 and completed his surgical residency in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Eibes returned to Iowa and began a career in general surgery in Grinnell in 1999. He began performing bariatric surgery in 2001. He relocated his practice to Des Moines in 2006 to specialize exclusively in bariatric surgery. He started the Unity Point/Iowa Health Des Moines Bariatric program and recruited a team of highly trained medical professionals to join him. He directed that program for over 7 years and grew the program from 50 surgeries per year to nearly 500 surgeries yearly. Dr. Eibes is one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons in the Midwest having performed nearly 2000 bariatric surgeries over the past 13 years. As the health system grew, Bariatric surgery became only a small part of the overall organization. Dr. Eibes has decided to partner with Iowa Specialty Hospital to get back to his beliefs of personalized patient care. He is bringing an entire team with him of skilled staff with many years of bariatric experience.
