Cheryl Schendel Dietitian / Nutritionist RDN

  • About Me
I am so happy to be part of the New Image Bariatric team! I have been a Registered Dietitian for 2 years and joined Dr. Coon in March 2019. I graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition Services 2016; Completed my Internship also at CSUSB; and after successfully passing the registration exam, I earned the credentialed designation of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in July 2017. My journey of becoming a Dietitian is a unique one in that I did not always want to be a Dietitian. I had always struggled with my weight – losing weight and gaining it all back (and more). That is until I met Dr. Coon in 2007. He performed my Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass on March 7, 2007; I lost 105 pounds in 10 months. It was being active in Support Group that made me realize that I wanted to become a Dietitian and work with bariatric patients. So I quit my long-time career in banking and current 10-year career as a bank auditor to pursue my dream. Now that I have joined Dr. Coon and the New Image Bariatric team, I feel like I have come full circle. I look forward to sharing my story and encouraging our patients through their journey to a longer and healthier life.   I am currently serving as the President of California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Inland District for 2019/2020   I am also an Associate Member of American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS)
