Melissa Davis is a board-certified nurse practitioner who takes the time to get to know her patients and provide them with excellent patient care. She received her Doctorate in Nursing at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, her Adult Nurse Practitioner degree from Saint Louis University in Missouri and her Bachelor in Science of Nursing from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as well as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and specializes in metabolic surgery, bariatric surgery and weight management.

In order to monitor overall health, as well as quality of weight loss, it is necessary for bariatric patients to receive regular body composition analyses, as well as other significant feedback. This includes not only tracking pounds lost but monitoring exactly where the pounds are coming from. This analysis results in better feedback regarding weight lost, but also results in better long-term outcomes for patients – including lower rates of weight regain.
Melissa’s discussion will include an explanation of body composition and all measured variables, a thorough review of different methodologies for obtaining body composition, and factors influencing weight loss and correlating body composition after bariatric surgery.
