Topic: RE: excercise
Adriana, There are many different types of exercise, but the most popular are aerobic activity (biking, swimming, aerobics class, treadmill); stretching and toning (such as tai chi, pilates and yoga) and strength training with small weights/bands. Each type of exercise performs different functions and helps you accomplish different goals (fat burning and cardiovascular workout, or stretching your muscles or building muscle mass and strengthening bones/ligaments. Most people believe a little bit of everything works well, or if you like one or two in particular go with that. The main point is that you DO IT! If you are with a gym, talk with one of their physical trainers or some one there who is on staff - they should be able to help you out. Also - talk with your surgeon, (s)he should be able to get you started in the right direction. Basically - if you don't like to do it - it will be harder to keep up with ~ so enjoy! Topic: RE: Window Of Opportunity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Daisy, Typically an average person's window of opportunity is about 18-months. So I don't believe that you are done losing weight yet, especially if you are doing everything right. My surgeon gave me tips on lulling my body out of slack mode - he said do ANYTHING different. increase calories (which I would suggest if you are exercising that much - not enough fuel to burn, so body holds on to more), exercise less, take a break from one type of exercise and start another, go back to liquids for a day or two, etc. Anything that is going to fake your body out and see that something had changed and it has to pay attention. My surgeon also recommends 1000 to 1200 calories per day when exercising regularly, and 800 to 1000 if not. But check with your nutritionist or your doctor. Patience, my dear, is a virture - as my grandmother would say. Good luck! Barbie 281/196/170ish
