Kathy keep up the good work. Well, I am fortunate that I don't have my period anymore. I had a hystromecy 10 years ago. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I too am in a size 12 and do wear some 14's and I started out wearing 22/24's. I just want to get to my goal weight of 135 lbs! My new swimsuit is a size 12 and I must say, it looks pretty good! Hi Jennifer, I think it's great that you've found something you love. They say (whom ever they are) that when you look forward to your exercise and can't get along without it, you reached a milestone. I go to curves 4-5 times a week and I miss it when I don't go. I also work with my horse almost every evening and on the weekends when I don't go to curves. Those things have given me so much more energy and I can face so many things that would have worn me out before. I'm just glad to be able to do this. I have a friend that is working with a personal trainer right now (she had wls may 03 114 lbs lost) and she would not give it up for anything. So, keep up the good work and continued success with your program. Barbara

Topic: RE: I'm down 78. How much have you lost?
Hi Michelle, I think I am the winner. I started at 307. My surgery date was 1/28/04 and I'm down 61 lbs. I don't know if what I'm doing is wrong. I just know that I loose 2-3 lbs a week and sometimes I eat things I shouldn't. I do exercise 4-5 times a week at curves and I get in at least 70 g of protein a day sometimes as much as 90g and I drink an additional 70 -90 ounces of liquid. Occasionally I eat what everybody else eats, but mostly I stick to protein and liquid (water or crystal light). If I go out to eat, I have salad and I do put dressing on it, not fat free or light because of the carbs. If there is a birthday party, I have cake. I don't know if this is inhibiting my weight loss, but I don't do it very often. I try to do everything in moderation. My Dr seems happy with my results and if I keep going at this pace, I will have lost all the weight I intended to loose in one year. If I don't, then I will need to make some changes in the way I do things, but for now, I am happy. I'd like things to go faster, but I'm ok with whats happening. I wish you continued success. Barb

Topic: RE: Vitimins for Hair Loss
I probably started too late but in trying to prevent more hair loss I am taking "Hair, Skin & Nails" from GNC. It has approx. 2300 mg of biotin or 833% MDR. This is in addition to my two regular multiple vitamins. Good Luck.

Topic: RE: an embarrising question. Please help
I found that certain foods more than others will cause gas. Onions are bad for me so I have tried to cut back. Foods that may have caused mild indigestion before will probably cause gas now. Hope this helps.

Hi Kimberly, (Surgery 1/20/04) Don't worry. I was stuck at 160 for about a month or so and finally I broke through to 158. That was only 2 days ago. I did notice however, that although I did not lose weight on the scale, I lost inches. I am now in a size 12 jeans (although snug) . I started in a size 20/22. Not bad for a little under 6 months. I've lost a total of 60 pounds. I count from my highest weight before surgery. That is where I was before starting this regimin. I also noticed that I was feeling very depressed and had my physician up the dose of my medicine. There was a lot of outside stress along with the normal weight anxiety. This helped a lot. I don't know about you but it took a long time for my period to come back. Before my first one I bloated up, felt tired a lot and ate all kinds of bad stuff. Once that passed I was ok again. I never had any symptoms or problems with that before surgery. Luck Dog! I wish I were going to Florida too. Have a lot of fun for me. Show off your new swimsuit. Smiles, Kathy

One way to look at exercising is that a pound of lean muscle mass takes up less space than a pound of fat. When it's all over those of us that exercise should look thinner and be healthier than our weight shows. Maybe there is such a thing as exercising too much. I weighed last week on a scale that gives the lean muscle mass and fat. I had 166 lbs of lean muscle mass which pretty much says I will NEVER fit the insurance tables. We aren't suppose to lose any lean muscle mass and if you add 23 % (minimum recommended fat) of fat I will be over 200 lbs when my wls journey is complete. How depressing. Like you I feel great already and I can only imagine how much better it is going to be at the end of the journey. Keep up the exercise and enjoy.

My surgery was 1/21/04 (5 months post-opt) and I'm down 87.5 lbs. (12 before surgery). Do we count the weight loss before surgery? Guess I'm doing good! I'm just feeling down in the dumps & a little blue! Guess I just need to hear it from others that I'm doing ok and to be patient! I'll get through it! I feel like I'm losing soooo slow! Today is my weigh in day and when I stepped on the scales this am I was only down 1.5 lbs.! Seems like I've been in the 160's forever! I was hoping to be around 155 when I go to Florida next week. Guess that won't happen! The last few days I've felt fat and bloated! Does anyone else get this feeling? Should I eat more or less? I have been bad lately with excerising. Last week I only walked two days and went on a 7 mile hike this past Saturday. My PCP told me not to left weights for a while, as I pulled a muscle in my right breast area! Didn't know I had muscles there! One of the things I enjoy the most is peoples reaction when the see me for the first time after shedding the 87.5 lbs. I saw an old friend this past weekend and he had to look 3 times to realize it was me! Oh! What a great feeling!!! Keep up the good work everyone!!! Kimberley 248/236/160.5/135 (by August, I hope)

Hello Jen, Funny you should mention exercise...until just last week; I have not been doing any kind of exercise. I have just felt so tired that I never could get myself up do anything except go to work. BUT, I finally got to the point where I felt that I was feeling so so so out of shape so I forced myself up and started walking on my treadmill. Iv been at it a week now and I am absolutely loving every minute of it...FINALLY. As for Rollerblades, I just got on mine for the first time two nights ago...It scared the hell out of me. When I was young, I used to go rollerskating all the time and I loved it. So I am hoping that I will get comfortable enough with the rollerblades to enjoy it as much as I did the roller-skating when I was younger. As for toning....i was told that its kind of hard on you because your insides dont heal as fast as the outside, and that you can cause yourself to get a hernia if you do to much toning within the first year. Anyway, any tips on rollerblading?????
