Wow Harriet! You've lost 98 lbs in 5 months!!!!! AWESOME! I envy you so much! I am waiting for the dreaded plateau, and I'm really hoping I don't hit one. Silly, as we know that we all do. I will be 5 months out the 26th of June and I'm now at -58 lbs., you have done an incredible job. I have noticed that people like me, who lose very slowly, seem to do so, but seem to avoid the plateau's early out. (I'm hoping anyway). For those of you who seem to lose an incredible amount early on, it would make sense that your body is now going "Whoa....wait a minute here. We need to slow things down a bit! I need to recoup from all this loss!" It is only temporary remember, and if you keep doing what your suppose to, it is going to start coming off again. You are doing a great job and should really give yourself a pat on the back. Try not to set a specific goal (160 by the end of July), but just sit back and tell yourself that this too shall pass. Good luck and let us know how your doing! Kim R/az 1/26/04 Open RNY 233/175/130

Topic: Daggone plateau!!
GRRRRRRR!!! I am so frustrated. I know I should be happy with my weight loss so far, but I am just a few pounds from a couple "milestones". I started my journey at 304, (day before surgery I was at 278 because I had to lose 10% of my weight prior to surgery) I am 206 today...which is 2 pounds from my being a memeber of the Century Club...which is a BIG deal to me if no one else...AND only 6 pounds from being UNDER 200!!! I have been stalled between 205-206 for 2 weeks. Nothing seems to be moving me forward. I have increased my walking, now over 45 minutes every day (I even park far away and walk from the far corners of every parking lot). I have been more efficient at getting all my protein in, making sure I take ALL my vitamins, as well as drinking more water and less decaf tea. I know IT will come off...and this will pass..but right now I am just sooo frustrated, I could scream. The doc predicted I would be at 160 by the end of July and I am having serious doubts that will happen. To be honest, I dont have a big concern on my final GOAL weight since my life is soooo much better now than it has been for years. I just needed to vent a little and knew you guys would understand! Thanks for listening to me rant! Hugs, Harriet

Topic: RE: HOW MANY CALORIES A DAY SHOULD WE BE CONSUMING AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME?
THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE RESPONSES. I HEARD BACK FROM MY NUTRITIONIST AND SHE SAID AT THIS STAGE I SHOULD BE CONSUMING AROUND 800 CALORIES AND IF I AM PLATEAUING (WHICH I HAVE BEEN FOR ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS) TO INCREASE THE CALORIES BY 100-200 PER DAY. I EXERCISE FOR 30 TO 45 MINUTES EVERYDAY, SO SHE FELT MY CALORIE LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE 950-1100 RANGE. SHE SAID YOUR BODY WILL THINK IT IS STARVING AND HOLD ON TO AS MUCH WEIGHT AS IT CAN. I TRIED INCREASING THE CALORIES FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS AND THE SCALE FINALLY MOVED THIS MORNING. I USE FITDAY.COM TO TRACK MY INTAKE AND I WAS ONLY CONSUMING ABOUT 600-800 CALORIES PER DAY. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL...HAPPY LOSING!!

Everybody on the Texas Message Board says to track your intake through FITDAY.com.. but.. it is so hard to match what you eat.. often they don't give you portions equal to what we eat. It just feels more trouble than it is worth. I had no idea that the recommended count was 700 cals!! But then I have no idea how much I actually eat. I guess now that I know it is supposed to be so low.. I better start checking ... I sure don't want to stop losing. Thanks for the info, Jan 287-194-145

WOOOOHOOOO!!! You are doing great!! Another fellow Minnesotan...AWESOME!! Best wishes on your continued success. Isn't it strange that people think we are skinny or anorexic?? I have seen myself large for so long that I don't think I will ever see myself as skinny. I am leaning to accept the compliments and say thanks. It was hard at first though. Keep it up, you're doing a great job.

Hi Teri, I'm not sure what I get in - It's so hard to tell - sometimes I can only eat like 1 - 2 teaspoons of something and I'm done - so I don't know how to break down the cal's, or protein for that matter. The only thing I know for sure is that I get 60-70 grams of protein in everyday from my shakes - I wish I could get a more accurate count - but at this point, it's the best I can do. I wish you the best! ((hugs)) Carla
