Topic: RE: Multivitamins?
Albert,
I take 2 multi-vitamins, Iron, B-12, B-50, Calcium, Clariton D and my birth control every day. I take my b-12 every day. I take one Iron and one B-50 and two celcuim a day. I have noticed when I changed my muliti-vitamin to the one that does not have Iron in it I become very tired. I work for the health department and they check my HGB when ever I ask. Mine has always been on the low side. I try to push the Iron to help it. I think if I started eating Liver I could bost it.
Well, hope this helps.

Topic: Multivitamins?
It's been a year now since my surgery; I am taking Centrum chewable tablets. I take two tablets a day even though the bottle indicates to take one, I tried taking one a day and I felt fatigued and weak so I started to take 2 a day and I feel good. I have been taking these vitamins since I was post op.
I wanted to get a feel as to what vitamins all my January peers are taking.
P.S. I also take sublingual B12 once a week and my doctor gives me a b12 shoot once a month

Topic: RE: Pain, Discomfort
Thank you so much for the Info,
I went to the doctors, he gave me a Physical and told me everything looks good, the pain/discomfort I am having might be just gas or air, he said just to monitor it and let him know if it gets any worse, actually it has lessened.

Topic: RE: Found! Great new underwear!
Hi Konnie,
I recently discovered Spanx too ... and I have also found Legacy, that is on qvc.com. they have several different styles ( waist to top of thigh; middriff to above the knee, etc.) and 2 colors... they are less expensive that spanx... they work very well; run true to the size charts... and feel good wearing all day. go to qvc.com ... and in the search ... type Legacy and take a look. good luck on your quest for the TT.

Pat-
I was told no more carbonated beverages! I stay away, but was never a big diet coke or diet pepsi drinker. I do know someone who does drink it, but they were told as well to stay away. I was told that it drinking carbonated beverages is like taking a balloon and putting 2 ounces of a carbonated beverage in it, shake it up and what happens? The balloon expands! And that is what would happend to our pouches. I say, stay away from all carbonated beverages.

Pat -
At least in the case of UCLA in California, we are told to steer away from carbonation, which can affect the pouch and also just not be good for us.
Also, I recently went through the ObesityHelp Chapter Leader Training, and we are taught that carbonation is a definite no-no, as it will cause stretching and discomfort.
There are those who say you can "blend away" the bubbles in a blender and have a flat diet coke, but trust me, not only does it taste gross, but when liquid that was once carbonated is reheated (i.e. going into the body), it tends to re-form part of the carbonation, even if it was made flat before.
I find now that we are so far out, that even the smallest little taste of diet coke just isn't that appealing, and I have moved on.
Good luck!

Topic: RE: Kidney stones, kidney stones, and MORE kidney stones!!!
Hi -
I had an OPEN RNY Gastric Bypass. After surgery, no matter how hard I tried, I simply did not drink enough water - and that is the most important thing. That, combined with high calcium levels and and very high protein diet, in my opinion, created my problem. This, I am sure, is certainly avoidable if you just make sure and drink as much water as possible and keep your system well-flushed.
It is really depressing - but there is so much more to be happy about!
Thanks for writing back!
- Michael

Does your doctor say never drink carbonated beverages again or can you have one occasionally? Thanks, Pat
Topic: RE: Kidney stones, kidney stones, and MORE kidney stones!!!
My daughter (who has NOT had the surgery) developed kidney stones while she was pregnant with her first child. She was sure she was having a miscarriage until she got to the hospital and they assured her that all was well. That is when they discovered the stones. She finally passed them without surgery and they were pretty small, but she said it was horrible! After she had actually had the baby, Becky said that the kidney stones were WORSE than labor. I just thought you would like to know that!
But this is the first that I have heard that it might be a side effect of the surgery. Which type did you have? I really don't want to go down the kidney stone path if I can help it!
