Topic: RE: Reaching out for help
I am probably repeating what has already been said, but we do all loose weight at different rates. We also started at different weights and have different amounts to lose. I have been very good about my vitamins, but I know I don't drink enough water or take in enough protein. The one thing I have done is to start each day with a protein bar. It's mainly for my schedule. I don't have time to eat until I get to work and they're easy to toss into my purse. I started at 311 and have lost 102 (currently at 209). I have days where I am really happy about that and others where I feel depressed. For the most part my days are good. I am happy I had the surgery and hope that I continue to lose. I wish you the same.

Topic: Insomnia- my latest frustration
Okay now I don't know if this has to do with WLS or not but I have beed having sever insomnia attacks. I work evenings from 3pm to 11:30pm and when I get home I unwind a bit then try to go to bed...Then nothing...I lay there for hours until my exhausted body finally gives up....Lately I have been going to bed at 5am or later and then getting up with my daughter at 9am.....I am mentally and physically exhausted can anyone help me? I figure it is stress but I don't know...I take Tylenol PM once in awhile but i don't want to have to rely on a med for sleep....Let me know!

Topic: Doing great, down by 1/2 of myself! LOL.....
Hello, all you wonderful people out there! I think that January 2004 is probably my favorite of all months - look at how it has changed our lives!
I have lost 187 pounds (I currently weigh 188), and I am so thrilled. Down from a 60 waist to a 38 waist (should get smaller after tummy tuck/skin removal), and down from a 3X shirt to a Medium!
I am having quite a bit of minor problems however. I have been unable to slow down my weight loss (I know this sounds stupid, but my doctor says I am beyond goal and I need to try and slow down the weight loss - so forgive this stupid post hahaha), and I am unable to eat much more that 1500 calories without getting sick - - I have been in and out of the hospital for bowel obstructions, and I am battling kidneys that are literally FILLED with stones. PLEASE, EVERYONE - YOU *MUST* DRINK YOUR WATER OR ELSE END UP LIKE ME - but I have learned a bit too late. The kidneys are a real problem for me now. You know, hard to urinate, blood in urine, and pain.
Anyone else out there in our January group battling severe kidney stones, bowel obstructions, etc? For men, I can tell you its the worst - you always feel like you have to pee, and when you finally do, only a little comes out. I have excellent doctors who are taking great care of me, but I have been getting just a little depressed about this lately. And those stupid intestinal attacks are the worst.
Even through all of this though, I feel overall so much better. I posted some new photos recently in my profile page. By the way, HOW DO YOU GUYS GET YOUR FACE SHOTS under your name when you post on these boards?? I would love to do that!!!
God bless you all - have a great day!!

Topic: VOTE VOTE VOTE!
Citizens of America,
Get out to the polls and vote November 2. This is not only a priviledge, but a duty of every American able to. If you did not register to vote on time, or are not willing to participate in the fundamental process of people representation - shame on you!
This sense of freedom is exactly what our soldiers are fighting for in the deserts of Iraq and the mountain terrain of Afghanistan (not to mention the wars of previous generations...) This election is expected to bring out the highest voting turn out in a very long time. Make sure you are one of them.
Find out where your local and state candidates stand on obesity and health related issues if nothing else. Remember - the last presidental election was decided by a mere 537 votes - that's less than most high school's enrollment, less than a large church congregation, less than a town or city population. Make sure your voice is heard and you know what the issues are.
Be thankful we have our freedom. Use your voice!
God Bless

Topic: RE: I Think I'm Gaining Weight!!!
Wanda, Wanda, Wanda... (and everyone else experiencing this issue, ME included!)
Just go back to the basics and you will be fine - no matter what the results. Control what you can control and let the rest go. You can drink more water, add more DAILY excercise (talking to myself here, mind you...) and get off the scales (also talking to myself...) Our weight issues have controled our life forever. I have been on a 3-month plateu and decided to just sit back and relax for 2-months of it. I have had some MAJOR life upheaval with a new job, a bad bipolar cycle, and moving. The last month I have decided to get back in gear. I'm adding more exercise, more water (yuck!) and adding more fruits, veggies and protein to my diet. I hope to get the pounds moving again. I did notice, however, that during this time of my plateau, my clothes dropped a size and my body shifted the weight. I still lost inches and I can see a better definition of muscle in my arms, legs and back. I had to replace my bras and panties again too. So of course, that added to less frustration also.
You're doing everything you can. Let the rest go. Good luck!
God Bless

Connie,
What a great mantra sweetie! Can I adopt it also? My main mantra has always, and will always be "Everything happens for a reason". I sincerely believe that there are no coincidences and that God gives us control over the choices that we make. However ~ when you choose "the road less traveled" so to speak, we miss out on the blessings that could have been.
You however, seem to have missed out on nothing and set out to make YOUR life better - in spite of what others thought or belived. Keep up the great work and follow your heart and your dreams will come true!
I am proud of you ~ and proud of all of us who have decided to make a difference in our lives!
God Bless,
