Topic: RE: I Think I'm Gaining Weight!!!
I too have been battling the 2-4 pound bounce for a month now. Down 104 and already starting the high maintenance. I think my body is just getting use to the intake. It is time to push the water and exersise. Damn it all. But it is worth it - just need to kick my butt in gear. Once the melting starts again I am sure I will feel much better. Ya this is my story but maybe it will work for you too.
Best of luck

Topic: RE: How much should I eat?
Hi, Susan! I was moved by your wonderful ability to walk such great distances. Good for you! Sounds like a great vacation, too! I do believe that area in VIrginia is truly God's country!!
And thank you for the tip about magnesium. I am down 101# and suffer the daytime fatigue and the nighttime sleeplessness. I will try that as a supplement.
Yes, the appetite returns.....but what I always tell people when they ask about this part is that they didn't operate on my head to take the appetite away. It does stand to reason as we feel better, our desires to eat come back. But here is where we have to make our good choices. I, too, went through the phase of getting calories from the great undersireable foods! My food/drug of choice was potato chips and 3 pieces of Dove dark chocolate at one sitting. Well, then I plateaued!! DUH! Here I am working out like crazy at Curves and I'm picking on that stuff! I got "religion" right away when I saw that one week, I actually gained 2# from these devasting choices I was making.
But, I went back to my measuring cup for my meals.....1/4 cup of small meat, turkey, fish or tuna pieces. Another 2 oz of veggie pcs. and a few grapes or slices of apple. I try to get all of this in. If I can't do it at one meal, I save these better choices for my between meal snacks. This way, I have a "food" to look forward to eating, rather than picking up a junk food item. You have lost the great amount of weight because you simply do not ingest the former amount of daily calories, plus, I do agree the amount of dairy helps step up the loss. Try yogurt instead of the carb control ice cream - or the fruit popsicles that are only 30 to 50 calories. You are tempting fate and encouraging your old appetite to stick around and come back! I went through this same thing.
Unfortunately, we cannot know the future, as you most certainly know, even though you say you wish you knew what lie ahead. But just think of it this way - it is a great journey, with lots of unknowns. It is our chance for a great adventure in this life - afterall, we only pass this way once! And just think of how healthy you are now and how good you look! You can walk all over God's Green Acres, too! How great is that???
Don't lose hope for protein shakes, either. There is this great web sit called www.femnutrition.com - they have two great shakes, one is called NECTAR and the best flavor is Fuzzy Navel - then the 2nd shake that is also awesome is PROPLETE, with their best flavor being Vanilla/Pineapple. I tell you, they taste like a summer drink....You don't have to kill yourself shaking them or blending them in a smoothie maker. Just pour out your ingredients and mix in a shaker type container. They are delicious! And they will fill you, taking the edge off the desire to eat.
Best wishes as you go for your hernia repair. But you must tell me about your face lift consultation. I, too, have the "80 year old" neck!!! YIKES!! The only thing, though, is that I am 61, but I look younger and this falling neck and drooping feature thing is killing me!!!! You must write me back and tell me all about it!
Well, keep the faith....and good luck with your surgery. I just wanted to say hi and encourage you.
Best regards,
Midge Ruhl

More than likely its water weight. It all depends on the time of the month. That is what my Dr told. There would be a week I gain 2 to 4 lbs and lose it. Just make sure you drink your water. Hang in there.

Topic: RE: female problems?
Hi Brenda -
If it is not one thing it is another, huh!? Unfortunately I have had too many problems in this area...I was tested for PCOS at one time also. I have had about 12 DNC's in my life and they are only a temporary fix. As far as the drug treatment, I found it was the wrong thing for my body and messed with the hormonal balance too much...as last resort I had the complete hysterectomy. Though I fell 100% better since doing that, I regret it every day. Perhaps it is my age (30 @ time of hysterectomy)...I am not sure what type of advice to give you but to weigh out your options. E-mail me if you want further info on my ordeal and good luck to you!

Topic: RE: My crazy insane out of control life!
Stacy - I am sorry so much negative is happening....but the one thing I learned is that if you have a bad relationship or marriage, it will just get worse after RNY surgery. Although this is not my case, I listen to many bariatric people in your shoes. I am sorry about your folks....no matter how old we are, it is devastating to even think they are fighting, let alone thinking of leaving one another! But remember, you do not HAVE to have a bad relationship. Things get worse when they are bad to start out with - when people don't work at the relationship. It now takes a new kind of focus - you, too, are a new person since your surgery. This in itself is very threatening to your husband, even though he was probably very supportive of you having the surgery. He may very well be scared of the new you!
But Stacy, listen to me - you must take care of YOU! You are no good to anyone if you are not good to yourself. Try to become more focused on you, your daughter and your husband. When he receives a more focused form of attention from you, he will see that you are not running around on him, etc. He will begin to lighten up somewhat, and as your focus on him and your daugher remain, the dynamics between you both will change for the good. These 2 people are the most important people in your life, next to caring for yourself.
We are not responsible for our parents. You cannot fix any of their stuff. Just keep your focus on your own little family....and remember to communicate with your higher spiritual power. Things do work out for the best sometimes, though. As your husband notices your caring focus, the days will get easier, and soon, you will be able to sleep better. Right now you are running on empty!
Please do not be discouraged. You are a worthy human being and you have come so far since your RNY! You have much to offer the world, not to mention how special you are to your daughter.
Keep the faith!
Regards, Midge Ruhl

I'm on a terrible stand still, but hoping things will startng moving. I'm down a few lbs in the last week or so. If anyone has any ideas............
PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I'm terribly fustrated with my lack of loss the last 3 months. I'm only down 76 lbs since surgery and feel like I must be doing somthing wrong. I have 34 lbs to goal. I'm really hoping that I make it by my anniversary date.
I'm new to this site and really need some support. I've been very
private about my surgery. I'm 52 yrs old and live in a small town in nothern Wyoming. I work in a hospital about 25 miles away. We have 3 grown children and 2 beautiful granddaughters 4 yrs and 9 months.
It's been very interesting reading all the post.
