January 2007 Reunion

Hi everyone, I have been working on a hotel arrangment for our reunion. What I speak of from here on forward is an event open to everyone, organized for the purpose of WLS support, love and friendship. Many from this board have posted suggesting a change of destination and the strong desire to still have a reunion. I believe in this group and want to see it happen so I am happy to work this thru. From our poll 4-5 weeks ago, January 26th was the most preferred weekend. When talking to the hotels I have also checked the weekend of the 19th. We have many strong offers in San Diego around the $125/night price point. Locations vary. This would possibly include breakfast. I've also held a meeting room for a Friday night get together and 'whatever' on Saturday AM. Las Vegas (baby!!) has been mentioned a good number of times. I feel I can get the same price in that city ($125/night). And the same dates - the weekend of the 26th being our preference. I have started to price this out. Additional points of information: Where ever we go I can get an airline group contract with American, more so applies to San Diego than Vegas. I will also get a rental car contract with Thrifty for 5% off. San Diego is a city where more people will need to rent cars. Cars are not needed in Vegas. How you spend that extra money stays in Vegas.... I have asked the hotels about spa services - either with the hotel or with a local salon - and can they offer a group discount? 15% is the norm. FINALLY. When I wrote OH about the advertisers as sponsors they were very supportive and stated that they were planning something for San Diego in early 07. And how about making it a bigger event being held on our weekend? In this approach there would be separate January bonding time and visibility of our group. But the core program would be run by OH with presentations, etc...... So the main questions are: 1) San Diego or Vegas? 2) with OH as a more structured event or our own thing with limited (but some) structure? 3) any other thoughts or ideas? I could not let anyone go to bed disappointed from today, meeting each other means so much to me and to everyone. Thanks, Tiffany

Oh, and for all those who originally suggested the Hotel del Coronado - their rate came back at $300. Its a fabulous property!!!

I am not crazy about being told what to do and when to do it. It would be my first time in Vegas so I would want to just "wing it" and have a blast. 3) any other thoughts or ideas? the group photo idea is cool...matching t shirts would be a must! Dawn

First off thanks Tiffany for continuing this so that we can all meet. 1) San Diego or Vegas?--I prefer Vegas ..it's also easier to get cheaper airfare to Vegas.. 2) with OH as a more structured event or our own thing with limited (but some) structure?....
