Eating outside the home

Hi Peeps! I have a question I'd like some suggestions on. I have several birthday, anniversary events coming up where we're going to restaurants and it's made me wonder where other people go and what they order when they're out. Are there any restaurants (nationwide chains) that you particular like? What kind of foods do you order when you're out? I haven't been to a restaurant since my 1/11 surgery. Hey! Tomorrow's my surgery anniversary. Yeah me/us! Kinda scares me to be tempted I guess. When I eat at home I'm in a more controlled environment. Any ideas? Hugs to all

I went to Bennigans last Saturday. I got beef fajitas. I mixed the cheese sour cream and guac into the beef/veggies and ate it like a hot salad. No tortillas. It was YUM! Bridget

Hey DeeBee: I have eaten out tons of time since my 1/30 surgery. You can pretty much find anything anywhere. Most places have fish, beef, salad, etc...and will prepare it to your needs. Don't be afraid to go to restaurants - just make them work for you! Good luck! Jersey Mom

I've been to several places. If it's lunch I usually just have a bowl of soup. For dinner I'll get a salad and then just eat the chicken and cheese out of it. Sometimes I'll get grilled fish. Depends on where we go, you can always find something. Last weekend we went to Chilli's. My favorite salad there is their Quasadilla Expolsion. I asked them to split it. Serve me half and pack up half to go. I could barley fknish what they served me --I ate the chicken and cheese out of it that's all. And from what I too, home, I had 3 more meals out of it. You'll do fine!

I eat out alot. The easiest thing to find that works is chili, most places have it and make sure you order the cup, not the bow. If that doesn't work, here are some other ideas. These should work at any restaurant you go to. I love steak, no problem eating it. Mexican food, beans, meat and cheese, no tortillas Salad, if you can eat it. Roasted chicken, Cold cut sandwich, eat the insides Worse comes to worse, ask for a baked potato with cheese. You don't have to say why, but say you can only eat about 4 oz. of food. They usually will let you get a senior or kids meal. I have never been turned down when I say that. In fact, most will get upset if you say so after and only eat a few bites. I have the card, but have never pulled it out.

Hi Peep, I cant believe I almost missed that tomorrow is our 4 month anniversary!! OMG! Yea to us! I eat out a lot. I do well with things people listed here so I wont repeat. I ask for salads to be made with half lettuce. Its so funny to watch people's reactions to that. You sometimes have to clarify you want the full salad but just less lettuce. Sandwiches work well, just pull it apart. And try to avoid the temptation for fries! Good luck, Tiffany

HI DeeBee! I was away with hubby for two weeks in March after my Jan 24th surgery and I was, quite honestly, nervous about being away from the security of home so long and knowing what to eat. I found a great bowl of sausage chilli at Bob Evans and crab cakes always were easy for me since the meat is so soft and tiny morsels. Red Lobster was good for me too, fish is easy to eat. Chilli at Wendys is easy. Also, I would get their chicken nuggets...5 for 99 cents in the states..Id eat two and take the rest along with me. Soup, shrimp ****tails(though I could only eat TWO shrimp, Id take the rest with me and nibble later. I never told the waitresses about my gastric bypass...I simply said that Id had recent stomach surgery and simply couldnt eat much yet. Never asked for a kids menu but I got away with asking for a seniors portion. BUT I usually just ordered from the APPETIZER menu...my biggest problem was that my eyes are still bigger than my stomach! Remember, your pouch is still very small but some of us struggle because we THINK that we can eat more than we really can but after several pieces, your pouch is full. have fun! Nancy B

Hi Deebee!!!! I've been out to eat a few times since surgery. I've found the only tasty entrees are the chicken. Yeah, the steaks, etc might look appealing in the menu, but they never come out as enticing lol! Do you have an Outback Steakhouse near you? Beware! They are SPICY! Or its just me and my sensitive taste buds lol!

They are spicy, just the way I love it. I was on a steak kick for a week or so. All I wanted was steak. I went out to get it several times. The only problem I ran into was this. Don't get take out from Sizzler, they use a cut that would be sent back to the kitchen if you were in the dinningroom. Other than that, I love Cocoa's steak they have right now, seasoned just right, cooked great, no bad cut so far.
