Alcohol...it's true
It really does take a LOT less til you feel it. Even though I have been over 200lbs for nearly as long as I can remember, I have always been a "lightweight" (in a manner of speaking, in regards to the amount it takes for me to start feeling the effects of alcohol). This is true even more, now post WLS.
I had several sips of DH's beer last night when we popped in the restaurant/bar for something to drink after working out (I ordered iced tea)...and I was feeling mighty "smiley"
in a relatively short period of time.
Another interesting factoid: I normally am not a huge fan of beer but it sure tasted delectable last night.

Nyquil...oh that stuff makes me loopy even pre-WLS! I can't imagine what it would do to me now!
"Why is that woman stumbling everywhere? Oh, she must have a cold and is on Nyquil."
The anytime-sniffling-sneezing-getloopy, trip-over-your-feet so you can rest (or walk around like you're three sheets to the wind) medicine!

Last time, it was literally a couple of sips. Last night, it was a few sips. The difference...no buzz the first time. Last night, I was buzzing...would not have felt at all comfortable driving home and would have called a cab if I had been alone. Not that I would ever drink alone.
hehe

There some info about alcohol abuse after WLS on the web site that is interesting. I have never been a big drinker but lately I have been craving a drink. I am not suppose to drink for a year according to my program so I have been taking pain meds to calm me down and relax. I think I could get addicted to alcohol or the pain meds.
My doctor gives us clearance to drink alcohol 3 months after surgery, and I have done so on most Saturday nights. I have a group of friends and we usually go to a local bar that does karaoke and have a few drinks and make fools of ourselves and have a great time. I have to say it has taken me getting *really* drunk the first night from a few vodka cranberry drinks (I love that it's a local bar because I brought in my own lite cranberry juice...haha) for me to realize that my tolerance isn't what it used to be and calm down. Now I have a couple, and break them up by drinking a lot of water in between. I have a rule of not driving after having any drinks even before surgery, so I always taxi it.
I don't drink beer or anything carbonated because it gives me gas pains.
