Hair Loss...Please Help
Hi all! I've been suffering with some major hair loss. It is making me very sad because that was the one thing I did like about myself was my hair. I'm taking all the recommended supplements and I've upped my protein but I want to know if anybody out there has used any products that help with hair loss like Nioxin and Rogaine. Thanks in advance.

My pony tail keeps getting smaller...and smaller...and smaller....and smaller. I don't want to cut my hair, though I know that is what some people recommend doing.
I'm very sensitive about it and notice that I can see my scalp now through my bangs/part. When I shower at the gym, some hair comes out when I take my scrunchi out, then when I wash and condition, then when I comb it out...it's just crazy.
I don't have any knowledge regarding the products you mentioned, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I'll be interested to see how everyone responds.

Christina:
Unfortunately, there is little you can do about the hair loss. My surgeon said it is a side-effect of rapid weight loss. It is good that you upped your protein but that may not alleviate the situation *right now*.
I would STRONGLY recommend you NOT use Rogaine! It seems that once you use that, you need to use it forever and the hair loss you are experiencing now is temporary. This happened to me after the birth of my son and it is happening again.
It SUCKS and it is frightening...but know that it is not permanent...it will grow back.
In the meantime, use the best hair products that you can afford (which means NOT using crap like Pantene...which is basically oil with moisturizers). I recommend Sebastian products and Loreal *Professional*.
Keep your chin up! It will get better...
Love and hugs,

Hi Christina. You're not alone.
I'm having a very hard time with my hair falling out. I can't run my fingers through my hair w/o 5 or 6 strands being between my fingers. I DID get my hair cut shorter at the recommendation of my stylist. It's helped a little bit, but I'm still seeing a huge loss of hair.

I've been going thru this for about a month now. It stops and starts too, which really bugs. I use biotin, have you started that? It at least helps the new hair grow in stronger and it is unknown, but might help with the loss. I too got my hair cut into layers, no length really taken off, it helps, since there is already new hair growning in.
You are not alone. This happens from either the rapid weight loss or the surgery itself, as others who have major surgery will go thru hairloss as well. No one knows for sure. I just cleaned my brush 2 times last night and once already this morning, along with a huge handful of hair when I washed it this morning. And there is still more coming out, until the hair is dry.
At first it was all on the right side, could see it on my hairline, it is back further now. Now I am loosing it on my left side, can see it there now too. It sucks.
Hi Christina: I am also losing hair and am getting a bit concerned. My daughter is in the process of going through gastric bypass surgery and had a meeting with her nut today and she told her to take zinc. My nut never told me that. At this stage I am going to try it. Everyone says it grows back so I guess ours will too.
My hair is usually thick and very hard to style, but now that I have lost some it styles easier, but enough is enough. Take care, Rosemary
