My Friggin' labs

So I all high strung about my damn lab work when I went for my 3 month check up yesterday (even though my 4 month mark is fast approaching!), and actually all my labs were fine except for my albumin...protein. I mean, it wasn't low but it was on the low side of normal....WTF! I try to get in 90-110 g of protein a day, and usually do pretty well with it. So needless to say I was a little worried. The doc just said to add an extra protein shake a day....ADD AN EXTRA PROTEIN SHAKE A DAY!!!! I can barely chug down the ones I drink once a day although I did find one that I kinda like for now. Not only that, but they're full of friggin calories. So I might do the Profect vials once a day. They taste....not great...but you do 2-3 chug downs and you're done. Either those or go back to eating 5-6 meals a day. Other than me gettin a little razzle dazzled over that everything else was really good, and they said I was doing great with the weight loss. So I was pretty much happy for the rest of the day, just a lil concerned. Thanks for listening! I'm off to work with my crazy patients as well as crazy nurses . April

Have you tried the profect powders? 12oz. is 200 calories and 50g. of protein. I love the dutch chocolate and have no problem with it.

Oh April I know how you feel with those shakes, I can't stand them. I would just do the Profect vials and be done with it. Hope that helps.

April, Don't fret. A lab is just like a snap shot at that moment. I was on Atkins for almost two years and ate nothing but meat and salad. Way bigger portions than allowed now. My albumin was BELOW normal on one test. Labs need to be viewed in the context of overall health and are used to see a repeating pattern. I am sure, over time, yours will be fine and you will continue to have good health! Teresa
