Beer is the devil...

OK, so I posted my pics last week from my vacation on the river. Well, what I didn't post there was that when I came home and stepped on the scale (fully dressed and after eating of course), I had gained about EIGHT pounds from my previous weight. I hadn't expected to have done great (I did have a few Doritos and a few - like one entire can - of FF Jalapeno Pringles), but I was active the whole time and really kind of thought that I might come back having lost no weight, or be up or down one pound. Other than the two chip slip ups, I did really well on food, though I was bad at getting in my protein shakes. What I was REALLY bad with, though, was drinking beer and/or Smirnoff Twisted malt liquor things. I rarely do that because of all the excess carbs, but I thought, hell, I'm on vacation, I'm on this boat with everyone passing out beers from the cooler left and right. I'm gonna have me some! EIGHT DAMN POUNDS LATER! Anyway, that was Friday's weight and as of this morning I'm only about TWO pounds up, so the scale is going the right way again. NO BEER AGAIN! Tee hee...it was fun though.

I heart beer Although one "true" pound is 3500 calories. So for you to have legitimately been up 8 lbs, you would have had to have eaten/consumed an extra 28,000 calories. I'm sure the weight gain was probably water retention/bloat/etc. But yea, it is easy to consume a lot more calories when you're drinking alcohol versus water or crystal light!!

LOL...yeah, I'm sure you are right. I don't even know how to have 3500 calories in a week! You know what's funny though, is that I usually do have drinks with friends on Saturday night (I usually have some vodka and mix it with light cranberry juice or diet V8 Splash), and I have had my biggest weight LOSS after those nights! I like THAT theory a lot!

If you didn't drink enough water when drinking beer, you have alot of water retention. The rule of thumb is 2 glasses of water to every one glass of beer or alchohol. If you had less than that, then you went into dehydration mode. So next time, just make sure you up your water intake.

Hi Laker Girl: I am so happy about your wonderful vacations.... there is a great difference between realize to have 8 pounds up and do something about it that having 8 pounds up and say Oh the hell I am already fat what do 8 more pounds are going to affect me? You see nowadays we are more in touch with our own health and what we have to do. It doesn't mean to not enjoy some vacations you have the right to have a rest. The advantage here is that now you have the willing to go back to your healthy routine after your sinfull and wonderful vacations Alejandro from Guadalajara Mexico
