lactose intolerant?
It happened again last night..in a last ditch effort to up my protein intake after a busy day, I made myself a hot choclate (SF) with 2 cups of skim milk...about 30 minutes after drinking it, I suddenly suffered serious stomach cramps and diahhrea(sp) for an hour..then nothing...
This is the second time Ive had that reaction with the same item.
Im wondering if Im developing a lactose intolerance now..or does that start immediately after surgery?
Ive always been a milk drinker and most of my post-op protein comes from dairy and dairy products...could this happen now after this long out from surgery? Anyone else have this experience??

...suddenly gassy!
If most of your protein comes from dairy and the only problems you've had have been from the hot chocolate, I would be more inclined to suspect something in the hot chocolate mix. Since it's SF, does it contain malitol, sorbitol, or have any ingredient ending in "ol"? This family of sweeteners are known to cause the symptoms you have described.
I'm sorry for your tummy upset. I hope you can figure out the cause.

Yes, that is lactose intolerant. You need to either stop using milk or get the milk with lactate in it or the pills. If you are lactose intolerant, the milk can now slow your weight loss. I use a non dairy form of protein, Profect, made with water. Only 6oz. for 25g. of protein and only 100 calories.
