Funky comment by my family

I thought I would share with yall a comment that my dad made over the long weekend. It's the first time since right after surgery that they have seen me -- we took the girls up for the long weekend. We were sitting on the back pier fishing and he said, "Hon, I probably shouldn't say this, but your mom and I are worried about the way you look. You look gaunt." LOL -- I thought it was pretty hard to look gaunt at 195 pounds -- 125 maybe -- but not 195.

It's funny how our family sees us sometimes. I guess they're so used to us being over weight that we actually looked healthy to them. My husband last night said, are you feeling ok?? Your cheeks look like they're sunken in. LOL.. I said, well it's because I've lost 66 lbs and before my cheeks were FAT... LMAO. Now they are starting to look like a normal persons!

That's funny.....exactly the same comment I had from my mother.... It is so difficult for me to make her understand that I am feeling healthy and happy and expecting to loose another 40 pounds..... Best wishes Alejandro from Guadalajara Mexico

Lis: Parents are so funny that way. My Mom is the same. She moved to FLA just after I had my surgery. When I told her I lost 70 lbs, she sounded *depressed!* She said, "I just want you to look like my daughter." I know she means well but...I mean, come on! I DO look like your daughter...just a healthier version! Silly parents! Love and hugs, Jersey

My reply was that I didn't think it was possible to look gaunt and still weigh nearly 200 pounds. LOL. I know they mean well and that they haven't seen me at this size my whole adult life (uh, which is a long time).

It's not unusual that this rapid a weight loss is scary to people we know. You just have to reassure him you are in good health and that you are also under doctor's supervision.

My mother is wonderful. She is always telling me how wonderful I look. Hazel
