Who Tans?

I started tanning the other day. I mean Im paying for it with my gym membership why not use it right? My problem is my scars seem to have burned? Its weird nothing else burnt must be the scar tissue. Has anyone else been tanning and does the scar blend in or stay more noticable? Elsa

I tan and I also started the other day. My scars are really red. My daughter gave me a stick of real suntan lotion in a stick to try rubbing on my scar. It didn't burn as much today. (She has a scar on her hand and uses it to keep it light and it worked for her! ~~hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

I have been tanning for 2 months now. I had open RNY so my scar is ugly and big. Anyway...it tanned right along with the rest of me. It is a little darker than my "normal" skin, but my stretch marks are lighter. I'm just a mess. At least the ugly spots are where people don't really see. Dawn

mine seemed to have faded with tanning. I guess they're blending in more with my skin tone now. You can still see them, but I feel less self conscious about them. Enough so that I actually bought 2 new real bikinis to wear on our Vegas trip next week! I haven't worn a real bikini (just tankinis) probably since college! Yeah for me!!! Hi Elsa and Everyone. I too had open RNY and was given a tip that has helped me not to burn on the incision. Use blistex or some lip stuff (Chapstick) that has a SPF in it and that will help you from burning. I had talked to the lady where I tanned and that is what she told me to do. I now can go without it and my scar is fading, or shall I say not as red anymore. Hope this helps! Sue

I have been tanning to get ready for my cruise, and my scars never did sunburn. They look about the same. I don't know if they'll every be allowed to see the light of day. I never have been a bikini girl. Maybe a tankini, but that's about it! Karla 337/253/150

Hello! I have been tanning for about 3 weeks and my scar is just tanning along with the rest of me. I haven't had any problems with it burning. I can't imagine that it would feel to great being burned!! ouch! Hope it tans up soon for you. ~Heather
