Opinion of WLS....what's yours?
I was just wondering what everyone's opinion of WLS is, now that you've had it since we're Jan 06 folks.
1. Are you glad that you did it?
2. Have you had any problems, complications, set backs?
3. If anything, what has been the worse part of this or the most difficult?
4. What has been the best part of it.
Looking forward to hearing everyone "take" on things.
Here's mine:
1. Most days yes, but I can't say just yet that "it's the best thing that I've ever done".
2. No problems, no complications, no set backs. Not even a plateau yet.
3. The occasional upset tummy.
4. Seeing the changes in myself, physically and spiritually.

Hi Kim! Good questions.
1. Are you glad that you did it?
*** I am super glad I had it!
2. Have you had any problems, complications, set backs?
*** Thankfully, no problems *knock on wood*
3. If anything, what has been the worse part of this or the most difficult?
*** Making sure to make it routine in my daily life. Not being able to eat whatever is available, I have to make sure it isn't a processed meat, etc...
4. What has been the best part of it.
*** Being Healthy and beginning to love and appreciate myself.
1. absolutely I am glad I did this.
2. No problems or compications. I do dump and things sit heavy at times, but that has been it.
3. Trying to find something to eat when not at home. Getting stressed when I don't loose any weight for a couple of weeks out of every month.
4. I just bought a pair of 16 pants, they are pull ons, but I don't remember when the last time I could wear this size. Seeing the face in the mirror I always see in my mind.
Hi Kim and everyone:
I have enjoyed reading everyone's responses to your questions. Here are mine:
Diana
1. Are you glad that you did it? Absolutely!
2. Have you had any problems, complications, set backs? None at all, thank God!
3. If anything, what has been the worse part of this or the most difficult? Most difficult for me is getting in the exercise. I was walking daily but have knee problems that make it painful so I need to do something else. It is so easy to just go for a walk every day but going swimming or to a gym are more complicated involving planning ahead.
4. What has been the best part of it? Feeling better and looking better! Also, being able to buy new clothes that actually look good instead of just getting anything that will fit.
1. Are you glad that you did it?
Yes, It is the best thing I've done for myself
2. Have you had any problems, complications, set backs?
No, not so far
3. If anything, what has been the worse part of this or the most difficult?
Learning to eat small bites and to eat slowly
4. What has been the best part of it
Buying and wearing more fashionable clothes and going down in sizes.

1) I like your answer. I'll steal it. "Most days yes, but I can't say just yet that 'it's the best thing that I've ever done'"...
2) persistent, painful seroma surrounding upper portion of incision that I have had to take pain meds and anti-inflammatory meds for, and have had drained a few times in the hospital. I want it to go away and never return. It's a pain in my arse...I mean abdomen.
3) The first two months...I experienced depression and difficulties adjusting (pretty standard though). Eating something one day and it's fine...eating the same thing another day and it makes you
....the pain of getting something "stuck".
4) Eventually getting over the 2 month hump after surgery and noticing I was getting my energy back. Playing with the kids more. Knowing that my health has improved tremendously even at this point (lower BP, lower chance of diabetes, cancer, managing PCOS) and finally, ditching the size 22's.

1. Are you glad that you did it? Without question! it's the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I had diabetis and now it's gone!
2. Have you had any problems, complications, set backs? I had one stricture when I was 7 weeks out. Since then nothing.
3. If anything, what has been the worse part of this or the most difficult? getting sick when I ate new foods..and now losing my hair. This is not supposed to end until like the 9th month.
4. What has been the best part of it. Looking in the mirror and finally liking what i see. going from a 22 pants to a 10 last week. I don't ever remember wearing a 10.
1. Are you glad that you did it? VERY glad I did it!
2. Have you had any problems, complications, set backs? I am still trying to learn how to deal with the gas pain I get daily. Going to see my pcp tomorrow and might see if she can give me a prescription for something.
3. If anything, what has been the worse part of this or the most difficult? It has been quite hard getting used to the fact that there are certain things that I cannot eat, as many things (like bread) get stuck on their way down. It has also been quite challenging learning how to eat v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y...
4. What has been the best part of it. How fast I've lost almost 80 pounds already!
