When does the weight loss stop?

I was wondering...after losing your weight...how does the body know to stop? I am a person that is able to tolerate a bit of sugar, like a cookie every once in a while. I have had a cookie here and there and continue to lose. I will never, and I say with confidence, never abuse food again. I am glad though that if I want to enjoy a cookie, I can. But if I lose even eating a cookie or two, that's sugar of course, when will the body know enough is enough? Kim P.

One way is the body will at about 18 to 24 months relearn how to absorb all the calories we eat, this will help stabilize the weight. The other is the body will find a weight it is comfortable with and hold there. If you keep loosing past the goal point, then eating more carbs usually stops it. Sometimes there are meds that will help, but that is rare. Hope this helps.
