I had an accident

................. ..................... last night with a condom .......... It took us 14 years to get pregnant with Grace. I suppose this time it will happen now which would not be the most ideal time in my WLS journey. But I want more kids so we will see... Anyone else have any oops so far? God Bless, Jen

I have an oops too - his name is Xavier (but don't tell him that) He wasn't exactly planned but never regretted! I have the IUD now so (as I'm knocking on wood) Hopefully no more oopsies for me! Dae, I really want more kids and any would be very welcome. I just have a fear about the danger to a developing baby with my lack of nutrition. I guess I would really have to make good choices and keep up with those vitamins. God Bless, Jen

Dana - A little off topic...i'm on the nuvaring...and have been about a year, but am seriously considering an IUD. Can i ask how long you've had it? Do you like it? The hormones have a negative effect on my sex drive...perhaps tmi..and i'm very interested! Thanks! Aileen

Oh boy Jen. Well I went to the OBGYN last Tuesday to get on birth control. She told me some interesting things. #1 when you are over 250 pounds the pill is ineffective. The reason why it seems to work for most is because you stop ovulating at such at large weight. #2 when you loose weight quickly, you can get pregnant very easily. #3 as long as you are overwieght at all it doesn't matter if you use the patch or the nuvaring in place of the pill because we will malabsorb all of them due to fat the hormone must go through to get in us. Are you going on the pill? I have been told, though I am too old anyway, that the pill WILL NOT work for us. We don't absorb enough now. Many have gotten pregnant on the pill after WLS. Just wondering. Not sure if that was what you got from your visit.

My issue is more that my period is irregular. She DID prescribe the pill, however she said to continue using the condoms like we have been. Dawn

Dawn, Yes - you can all be Godparents. That means an online baby shower!!!!! I had lost 60 pounds right before I got pregnant with Grace so I know what your OB is saying. We never had to use BC and it is a pain in the rump. I went for my yearly last month and talked to the NP about different BC methods. I struggled part of the pill's design that is an abortionist (The pill is designed to prevent a fertilized egg from implanting, should an egg manage to slip through.) I ultimately decided that condoms were our best choice. A diaphram was my other choice but I was told due to the weight loss, the size & shape of the cervix would change and the diaphram would not have a good fit. So condoms was the decision for me personally. My sister chooses to use BCP and that is fine with me. I would never judge her choice. God Bless, Jen
