Whew, you scared me there for a minute as I work at a treatment center for drugs/alcohol.. ....Anywho..I have the same problem. I always wanna drink with my meal or immediately afterwards... I'm thirsty darn it. I am trying harder to drink a good bit 30 minutes before I eat and then wait at least 20 mins. after, but it is difficult so I feel your pain... Marsha

Elsa, you're not alone... I have a hard time eating slow and not also not drinking... I usually have to have little sips after a meal...and I always drink at least a half hour before I eat. My Dr. also told me as long as I'm only sipping that it wouldn't hurt me..I try really hard not to drink to much though and I don't drink while I'm eating..but right after I'm done I do. Anna

I'm with ya hon!! I have a terrible time not sipping a little during a meal. I know they say not to cause it washes the food out of our puches and in turn makes us hungry fast, but my problem is I am still not hungry, I eat to live! My nut also told me that a little sip here and there isnt going to cause any harm. So I do what I do and I am just fine! Steph

I have to put my glass in another room to keep from sipping from it. I'm the kind of person who would go through glass after glass while eating so this has been a really big change for me as well. The reason we are not suppose to eat and drink at the same time is because is flushes the food through the pouch too quickly and then you might feel hungry again too soon. That makes sense to me. But boy am I counting the minutes till I can have that drink I feel for you Elsa. Regards and hugs, Ronna

I occasionally take tiny sips...when I just cannot stand waiting the full 30 minutes after eating. I have been told that drinking while eating doesn't cause direct harm, but simply washes the food out of the pouch faster. Though, it may be yet another one of those things where each doc has their own opinion on the matter. I have read some doctors say it's ok, as long as you're not feeling any pain in your pouch. I have noticed especially now that the weather is warm, I get sooo thirsty and just need a sip once in awhile! Chele
